North American Handmade Bicycle Show – part 2

As promised, here are some more pics from the 2012 NAHBS.  If you missed part 1, check it out here.  I’m going to have to do a part 3 to cover all the different vendors and builders I visited.  Be sure to check out the NAHBS on Facebook to keep up with their latest news and plannings.  Denver is the host city for the 2013 show.  Make plans now!!

BOO Bicycles was founded in 2009 by Nick Frey.  He quickly teamed up James Wolf who brings a vast experience of working with bamboo to the partnership.  Based out of Ft. Collins, CO., BOO Bicycle frames unite carbon fiber and bamboo giving the rider a high performance ride that is supple and smooth.  With a lifetime guarantee against manufacturing defects and a 100% satisfaction guarantee, what’s not to like?

For over 20 years, King Cage has been providing you with high quality hand made water bottle cages to keep you hydrated.  Sure, you can buy one for cheaper that was made overseas and shipped here via cargo vessels, but what is the point of supporting that venture?  To save a few bucks?  Support your fellow Americans!  All King Cages are hand built in a garage in Durango, CO. from USA sourced materials.  Check out the trick new Top Cap Cage Mount!

Need a utility bike?  A bike for cruising the beech?  A bike to get you around a velodrome?  Naked Cycles lives and breathes bikes and can build you the bike of your imagination.  They don’t favor one or the other.  The best bike is the bike that is right for you.  Sam Wittingham founded Naked Cycles and has been designing and building bikes for nearly 15 years.  Check out the picture below with the lighted stem.  The hollowed out stem holds a regular old flashlight that powers on or off with a press on the lens.  The craftsmanship at the Naked Cycles booth was impressive and their long list of NAHBS awards proves it.

Steve Potts is a legend who came out of the Repack Riders of Marin, CA.  His shop is now located in Point Reyes.  He is considered one of the last Repack Riders to still be constructing their entire line by hand.  If you are ever in town, stop by Point Reyes Bicycles.  They are considered by many to be the first mountain bike specific shop in the country!  They sold many of the early Steve Potts originals.
